Privacy Policy
Effective: 6 October 2026
Hopwave lets phones near each other call, talk, share audio, video, messages and files over a local Wi‑Fi network or hotspot. It has no accounts and no servers of ours.
What we collect
Nothing. We do not run servers, do not require sign‑up, and do not collect, store or sell personal data. If you email us (feedback, support or a report), we use your email only to reply.
What stays on your phone
Your display name, settings, saved stream setups, call history, hidden people, recordings and received files. You can delete them by clearing the app's data or uninstalling.
What nearby phones see
Phones on the same network can see your display name, whether you are live, your stream title, description and cover, your battery level and (Android) Wi‑Fi signal. Calls, audio, video, chat messages, reactions and files you send go directly to the phones in your group. Private rooms need a 4‑digit code. Pro encryption protects content in transit.
Permissions
- Microphone — walkie‑talkie, calls and going live, only when you use them.
- Camera — scanning join QR codes and live video, only when you choose.
- Local network / nearby Wi‑Fi devices — to find phones near you.
- Location — to read the Wi‑Fi name for QR cards and for optional crew locations, shared only on your local network.
- Photos / files — to pick files to send and save files you receive.
- Notifications (Android) — to keep audio running in the background.
Purchases
Pro is a one‑time purchase handled by Google Play or the App Store. We receive no payment details.
Age
Hopwave is for people aged 16 and over. Broadcasts, calls and chat happen live between phones physically nearby and are not moderated in real time. You can hide any person, use private rooms, and report content to us — we review reports within 24 hours.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update this page and the date above.
