Terms of Use
Effective: 6 October 2026
By using Hopwave you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
Who can use Hopwave
You must be at least 16 years old.
How Hopwave works
Hopwave connects phones on the same local Wi‑Fi network or hotspot. It does not use the internet for calls, talk, broadcasts or file sharing, and works only within the range of that network (about 30–80 m, extended by relay phones). Performance depends on your phones and network. Hopwave is in early access and improves regularly.
Your content and behaviour
- You are responsible for what you say, broadcast, stream and share.
- Don't share content you don't have the rights to, or anything illegal, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit or harmful.
- Don't use Hopwave to spy on, record or contact people without their consent where the law requires it.
- Respect the venue or network owner's rules.
Content goes directly between phones; we do not host, store or review it. You can hide people in the app and report abuse to us. We may provide information to help with reports where we can.
Hopwave Pro
Pro is a one‑time purchase through the App Store or Google Play that unlocks extra features (such as larger rooms, HD sound, video, private rooms and encryption) on your store account. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. Features may change as the app improves; we won't remove the core of what you paid for without offering an equivalent.
Not an emergency service
Hopwave is not a replacement for emergency services, mobile networks or satellite SOS devices. Group alerts only reach phones on your local network. Don't rely on Hopwave where your safety depends on it.
No warranty
Hopwave is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost data, or connection failures arising from your use of the app.
Changes
We may update these terms; the date above shows the latest version. Continued use means you accept the update.
